Gender budgeting is an application of gender mainstreaming in the budgetary process and a strategy with the long-term aim of achieving gender equality goals.
It involves conducting a gender-based assessment of budgets, incorporating a gender perspective at all levels of the budgetary process and restructuring revenues and expenditures in order to promote gender equality.
Our involvement in the Cyprus Gender Budgeting Platform set up by Mrs Mary Pyrgos and the Fimonoi Foundation follows our successful collaboration at the Cyprus Forum 2023 and aims to raise awareness and understand the steps needed to advocate for this change in the Government Budgets of Cyprus.
The first ever Gender Budgeting Conference was held in Cyprus on 22nd and 23rd February 2023, where world-leaders in the field of Gender Budgeting shared their best-practice tools and processes to help us all understand how we can affect this change in our country.
