Anna Koukkides-Procopiou holds First Class degrees in History and Economics from University College London, where she studied as the recipient of the UCL Cyprus Scholarship, an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a certificate in Religion and Politics by the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University. She also trained as a professional Political Risk Analyst with Teneo Intelligence, one of the largest providers of political intelligence in the world, and holds an Executive Development Diploma (mini-MBA for professionals) from CIIM, Cyprus International Institute of Management.
She is a Senior Fellow and Member of the Advisory Board of the Cyprus Center for European and International Affairs, University of Nicosia. She is also a researcher with SeeD-Centre for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development, specializing in gender, inclusive security, foreign policy and the Cyprus Problem. She sits as an expert at the Women in Politics working group of the European Women’s Lobby based in Brussels and is a member of the Women in International Security network.
Anna is a founding member of AIPFE Cyprus-Women of Europe (established in 2001). She has simultaneously served as Project Coordinator for two European-funded programmes (Women Fit4Business and Collaborative Learning for Gender Diversity in Decision-Making Positions) plus the AIPFE Cyprus Ernst Young Cyprus Women Fit for Business project for unemployed female university graduates. She also acts as AIPFE representative at the Cyprus Women’s Lobby Board of Directors and at the bi-communal Cyprus Dialogue Forum.
Having in the past worked for a good number of years in the corporate sector and having served as an executive director on the board of the largest media group in Cyprus (which is also a public company), Anna is a firm believer in female entrepreneurship and empowerment as drivers of economic growth. Therefore, she co-founded and currently co-facilitates three empowerment LeanIN circles for women executives (one in collaboration with KPMG), affiliated with Sheryl Sandberg’s LeanIN foundation in the United States. She is also a member of the US-based Global Entrepreneurship Network and an accredited mentor of the UK-based Cherie Blair Foundation for Women.
As an active member of civil society, Anna has recently received the Iconic Women Changing the World award by the Women Economic Forum international summit in New Delhi (2017).
